After almost two (2) years of online meetings, training, webinars, and nearly doing everything virtually, the 𝑂𝑛𝑒 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ 𝑂𝑚𝑖𝑐𝑠 𝑃𝑟𝑜𝑗𝑒𝑐𝑡, in partnership with PGC Mindanao has successfully concluded the 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 (𝟯) 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 of the Face-to-Face Bioinformatics Workshop at the College of Science and Mathematics, University of the Philippines Mindanao.
Participants of the workshop were from 17 government, private HEIs, and institutions all over Mindanao, including other members of the Mindanao Genomics Consortium (MGC).
In the opening ceremony, Dr. Aleyla De Cadiz, project leader of One Health Omics said that the workshop aims to further capacitate researchers who have undergone previous online Bioinformatics organized by the project. “We look forward for a fruitful training for the three (3) batches of this workshop so they can utilize the learning in their future research endeavors”.
The Bioinformatics workshop series is the third major activity of the project funded by DOST Newton Agham, in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). It is the continuation of the Online Bioinformatics Training held last October 11-16, 2021.
The free workshop was also in full support by the Philippine Genome Center through Executive Director, Dr. Cynthia P. Saloma who delivered her message of support during the virtual opening and closing ceremonies of the workshop series.
The workshop is also in collaboration with the PGC Mindanao headed by Program Director, Dr. Joel Hassan Tolentino. “We are one in PGC Mindanao in this endeavor to capacitate our future data scientists in Mindanao. I am thankful for our PGCMin staff’s dedication, ” said Dr. Tolentino.

This series of workshops has catered to three (3) batches with 10 participants in each batch from March 22-24, March 29-31, and April 19, 21, 2022.
