The Research and Development and the bioinformatics divisions of the Philippine Genome Center Mindanao presented the first ever Bioinformatics Lecture Series from October to November 2021 via zoom and facebook live. The lecture series aims to introduce a diverse range of bioinformatics topics such as High-Content Screening and Image Processing and Structural Modelling of Proteins.
The first lecture took off on October 1, 2021 with speaker, MR. JAN B. DIVINA, University Researcher of PGC Mindanao. He delivered the talk on ”Genomics & Agriculture: Tool Set of Agricultural Genomics”.

While the second lecture of the series happened on October 29, 2021, with speaker Prof. JEAN-BAPTISTE CAZIER, Director Chair, Bioinformatics Centre for Computational Biology, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. He delivered the topic on “Explainable AI to Leverage Big Biomedical Data: Application to the UK Coronavirus Cancer Monitoring Project”.
The open forum was moderated by Dr. Jan Michael Yap, the Director of the Core Facility for Bioinformatics in the Philippine Genome Center at UP Diliman.

To conclude the October-December lecture series, PROF. JANOS-KRISTON VIZI of University College London (UCL), United Kingdom delivered the talk on “3D high-content screening for identification of autophagy modulator small molecules using hypoxia”

The three (3) lectures were attended by almost 200 zoom participants and garnered 200 views via facebook live.
PGC Mindanao thanks everyone for tuning in from the first lecture, the second lecture, and down to the third lecture
