After two (2) years of online workshops, finally, the ONE Health Omics project of UP Mindanao, headed by Project Leader, Dr. Aleyla E. De Cadiz, in collaboration with the Philippine Genome Center (PGC) Mindanao will be conducting a Face-to-Face Bioinformatics Workshop from March 22 to April 21, 2022, at the College of Science and Mathematics, University of the Philippines Mindanao. This workshop is the continuation of the Online Bioinformatics Training held last October 11-16, 2021 co- hosted by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
The workshop will cater to three (3) batches with 10 participants in each batch. Topics that will be covered are Sanger Sequencing QC, Primer Design, Multiple Sequence Alignments, and Molecular Phylogenetics. All participants of this training are required to submit negative antigen test results for COVID-19 and they will be strictly monitored on the recommended health protocols by IATF throughout the training.
On March 22 there will be an opening ceremony which will be a combination of face-to-face (for the first batch) and via zoom (for the other participants). Director Cynthia Saloma will give her opening remarks during the event.
This free training is sponsored by the Newton Fund and British Council through the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD).
