The Philippine Genome Center Mindanao is now in its 4th year this 2023. Since its establishment in 2019, it has aimed to: establish an Omics facility in Mindanao, capacitate the scientific workforce of Mindanao, facilitate Omics research programs in Mindanao, and develop a communication plan to promote the PGC Brand. With its establishment, PGC Mindanao serves as the pioneer institution in omics, bringing state-of-the-art research facilities closer to Mindanao.
As part of our aim to introduce PGC Mindanao and omics research and technology, we conduct our region-wide caravans as part of our promotional strategy to reach the rest of the regions in Mindanao
In 2019, PGC Mindanao conducted its premiere caravan in Region XII, specifically in General Santos City. The second caravan was held in the same year at Region XI, specifically in UP Mindanao, while the third was held in 2022 at the Philippine Science High School – Caraga Region Campus.
This year, PGC Mindanao is set to continue holding the region-wide caravan to the rest of the regions in Mindanao. It is set to hold in Region X, Northern Mindanao.
As an opportune event, along with the caravan is the conduct of exploratory discussion and meeting between PGC Mindanao technical experts with medical doctors and researchers from the Capitol University Medical Center, Northern Mindanao Medical Center, Maria Reyna Xavier University Hospital, and J.R. Borja General Hospital.
The purpose of the meeting is to gather experts and researchers to conceptualize and organize priority research targets into actual research programs. At the end of the activity, participants will be able to draft a research program outline.
